Attending the conference were Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Thanh Son; Acting Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Tan Duc and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, vice-chairmen of the Provincial People’s Committee, leaders of departments, branches, branches, localities, experts and businesses.
The inevitable development path of the province
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh said that green growth is a global trend and an inevitable development path for the world. To date, 137 countries around the world have committed to or are aiming for the Net Zero goal – net zero emissions.
At the 26th and 28th Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26 and COP28), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh committed to the world that Vietnam works towards the goal Net Zero by 2050.
In order to implement the Government’s commitment and aim at the goal of green and sustainable development, Dong Nai has developed and issued a project to reduce carbon emissions in the area until 2030, with a vision to 2050. Along with that, is to implement the goal of sustainable development and green development that has been oriented from the 10th Provincial Party Congress, term 2015-2020, 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025 and Planning Dong Nai province in the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050.

At the conference, the Provincial People’s Committee announced Decision No. 385/QD-UBND dated February 19, 2024 of the province approving the project to reduce carbon emissions until 2030, with a vision to 2050 in Dong Nai province.
Along with that, experts, scientists, and businesses presented 9 related topics: carbon inventory, carbon reduction; save energy, develop solar energy; carbon credits, green finance. In addition, manufacturing enterprises in the province also share experiences in reducing emissions towards green production and circular economy.
Unify thinking, awareness and action on Net Zero
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Phi said that to implement the Government’s commitments and the province’s goals, the Provincial People’s Committee recently issued a project to reduce carbon emissions in Dong Nai province until 2030. Vision to 2050 with 4 specific roadmaps: 20% reduction in period 2025-2030; period 2030-2035 reduced by 45%; The period 2035-2045 is carbon neutral and the period 2045 – 2050 has zero greenhouse emissions.
There are 7 main industries, fields, and areas prioritized for implementation: energy; industry; traffic; agriculture, forestry and land use; construction and materials; urban area.

Immediately after this conference, departments, branches, branches and localities must develop specific plans to implement the project to reduce carbon emissions in the province until 2030, with a vision to 2050. Provincial leaders called for All people and business communities at home and abroad are united and determined to successfully implement the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
Speaking at the closing of the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh once again affirmed that green growth is an inevitable path of development. The topics that domestic and international experts and businesses presented at the conference were valuable knowledge and experience for the province in the process of implementing the carbon reduction project; contributing to the effective implementation of the Prime Minister’s 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the Paris agreement on climate change and Vietnam’s international commitments.

Also according to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, to achieve the Net Zero goal, there must be change and unity in both thinking, perception and action, both in production, lifestyle and consumption activities; especially in thinking about planning development paths and strategies; Green transformation solutions must be quantified based on science, technology and innovation.

It is necessary to research and develop a set of scientific green classification criteria in accordance with international practices as a basis for the province to select green investment projects; Mobilize domestic and international resources to realize green growth goals.
