On the afternoon of May 20, within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the session “Common efforts for a sustainable planet”, focusing on the following topics: These include climate change adaptation, sustainable energy transition and environmental protection.
As one of the leaders to speak first in the session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the message of sustainable development, response to climate change, emission reduction and energy transition can only succeed. through a global, all-people approach, upholding multilateralism, self-reliance and self-reliance of each country and extensive international cooperation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that human resources, science, technology and innovation are the central driving force for the sustainable development of all countries, the solution to the problem of both rapid and sustainable growth.
The Prime Minister suggested that G7 countries and international organizations strengthen their support to developing countries in technology transfer, capacity building in institutions, infrastructure, human resources, management methods, and system building. clean energy development ecology.

The Prime Minister said that the effective mobilization and use of resources is a key factor for sustainable development. Regarding Vietnam, the Prime Minister affirmed his determination to realize the goal of bringing net emissions to zero by 2050 even though Vietnam is still a developing country, in transition, and a country that has experienced many wars. Assessing this is a huge challenge, but it is the path Vietnam chooses on the basis that promoting internal resources is strategic, decisive, fundamental, long-term, external forces are important and breakthrough.
The Prime Minister emphasized Japan’s support for the “Asian Zero Emissions Community” (AZEC) initiative and suggested that G7 countries and partners continue to accompany Vietnam in implementing the Agreement on Economic Cooperation and Development. a substantive and efficient equitable energy transition (JETP); contribute to help Vietnam promote its potentials and advantages, become a regional renewable energy center, deeply participate in supporting industrial production chains in clean energy and circular economy.
Affirming that wind and solar are energy sources that no one can take away, the Prime Minister shared that Vietnam has just announced the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 to promote renewable energy development.
The Prime Minister wishes to continue receiving support and effective cooperation in management and sustainable use of water resources, improving capacity to respond to climate change and sea level rise, especially in the river delta. Also within the framework of the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the PGII Initiative Event. This is an important G7 initiative to promote high-quality infrastructure investment in developing countries through public financing and public-private partnerships.
